Got more TH400 questions?

I have a TH400 behind my small block 327 and it wont shift out of first gear. I just changed the front fluid pump in it and re-installed it in my truck. I have filled it with fluid and checked my vacuum modulator which is connected and has good vacuum at idle. I have also taken off the kick down plug off of the solenoid and it still wouldnt shift. So I have it narrowed down to either the solenoid is bad (I bent the prong when I had it out) or the governor is plugged. I am unable to manually shift it because it is not the original transmission and the gear shift doesnt have 1L, just 2L and drive. Any idea what this sounds like? when I did remove the front pump, it was because I broke the lugs off. So there could be some shavings in the trans and I dont have money for a rebuild.
