What is an “epistemological shift” and how does it apply to Scafi’s argument?

I am in a really hard cl an no matter how much I reread what she told us to I cannot find it. The thing we are reading is Mapping Eden: Cartographies of the Earthly Paradise by Alessandro Scafi. I know it's a in depth question but someone please help!
